Conference Information

My name is Lorena Sugiyama, a 4th year student in the department of International Relations at Kobe City University of Foreign Studies. I am serving as an Assistant Secretary General with our Secretary General, Saemi Takahashi. It’s our great pleasure to host this JUEMUN 2023 conference and welcome you all to Kobe. I hope that this conference will be a precious one for all of our participants. Let’s make this conference successful and memorable together. I am looking forward to seeing you at JUEMUN 2023.

Guest Speaker – Dr. Osamu Kunii

Dr. Osamu Kunii, MD, Ph.D., MPH, is currently serving as CEO and Executive Director of the Global Health Innovative Technology Fund (GHIT), which promotes R&D of therapeutics, diagnostics and vaccines against infectious diseases such as neglected tropical diseases, tuberculosis and malaria.  In the past 30 years he has been engaged in global health, especially infectious diseases control, humanitarian emergencies, and maternal and child health, through the Global Fund, UNICEF, academia, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other institutions. He has lived and worked in various countries in 6 continents, such as Brazil, India, Myanmar, Somalia and Switzerland, and love various activities such as Yoga, meditation, Karaoke, diving and mountaineering.
